Community Consultation: Final Call for Road Naming Submissions

AlburyCity reminds residents that the public submission period for several road naming proposals concludes at the close of business today, Tuesday, 10 February 2026. Under Section 162 of the Roads Act 1993, the Council is seeking community feedback on the following designations:

  • Dornan Lane: A proposed public road located between Thurgoona Street and Wilcox Street in Albury.
  • Asher Lane: A proposed public road commencing at Creek Street and extending in an easterly direction.
  • Discovery Road: A proposed private road located within the Noreuil Park precinct in South Albury.

All formal submissions must be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and submitted via email or post. Council will review all correspondence before finalizing these names for the local road registry.

Infrastructure and Essential Works Update

Multiple civil construction projects are active across the city this week. Residents and commuters are advised to plan for minor delays and changed traffic conditions at the following locations:

  • Burrows Road Reconstruction: Work continues on the installation of a new water main. Motorists should expect lane closures and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible.
  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Demolition and earthworks are currently progressing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. High-pressure shotcrete application is also scheduled for the section between Nowra Street and the railway line.
  • Australia Park: Construction of the new retaining wall and vehicle crossing is ongoing. This project is part of a broader upgrade to improve car parking and access to the Oddies Creek Play Space.
  • Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 works involving the Kerr Road sewer line are ongoing, with completion expected by late March.

Public Health Advisories

NSW Health has issued a series of alerts relevant to the Albury and Southern NSW region. Local residents are urged to remain vigilant regarding an increased risk of measles following several confirmed cases in the state. Individuals who have recently traveled or are feeling unwell are encouraged to monitor for symptoms and ensure their vaccinations are up to date.

Additionally, with the region remaining in the peak mosquito season, health officials remind the community to take precautions against mosquito-borne diseases. The use of effective repellents and the removal of standing water around residential properties are strongly recommended to reduce the risk of transmission.

Emergency Services: Fire Danger Warning

Emergency services have issued a high fire danger rating for the North East region for Tuesday, 10 February 2026. Residents are advised to review their bushfire survival plans and remain informed via local emergency broadcast channels. Please note that strict restrictions may apply to outdoor activities involving sparks or naked flames during this period.
