Public Health Advisory: Measles Alert

NSW Health has issued a priority health alert for multiple locations across the state, including regional hubs, following confirmed measles cases reported on 13 February 2026. Residents and visitors are urged to remain vigilant for symptoms, which typically include high fever, sore eyes, a cough, and a characteristic blotchy rash. Community members who are unsure of their vaccination status are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider or Albury Wodonga Health to arrange for the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine, which is provided free of charge to those eligible.

Planning and Community Consultations

• Mate Street Planning Proposal: A draft amendment to the Albury Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2010 is currently on public exhibition. The proposal aims to introduce 773 Mate Street, North Albury, as an Additional Permitted Use for 'office premises.' Public submissions and feedback regarding this change will be accepted until close of business on Thursday, 19 February 2026.
• Animal Care Centre Adoption Drive: To support local animal welfare, the Albury Animal Care Centre is currently waiving all adoption fees for cats and dogs. Infrastructure and Essential Roadworks

Council crews are currently engaged in several essential infrastructure upgrades. Motorists are advised to observe all temporary signage and speed restrictions in the following zones:

• Lavington Drainage: Reconstruction work is ongoing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street, including demolition and shotcrete application to improve local stormwater capacity.
• Thurgoona Link Road: Construction of Stage 5 and the Kerr Road sewer extension remains active. Works in this area are scheduled for completion in late March.
• Burrows Road: Full reconstruction and water main installation are currently in progress following the commencement of works in January.
• South Albury: Upgrades to the levee bank and the Australia Park carpark are continuing, with retaining wall construction and vehicle crossing installations currently underway.

Advanced Notice: City2City Road Closures

Preparation is underway for the SS&A City2City RunWalk on Sunday, 22 February 2026. Residents should plan for significant road closures between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM on the day, affecting Dean Street, Wodonga Place, and Noreuil Parade. While Kiewa Street will remain open to through traffic, heavy delays are expected across the CBD corridor.
