Weather Advisory: Heavy Rainfall and Runoff Warning

Residents across Albury and the surrounding Murray region are advised that a heavy rainfall advisory remains in effect for Monday, 9 February 2026. Following significant precipitation over the last 24 hours, local authorities are monitoring potential runoff and localized flash flooding. While no immediate evacuation orders are in place for the Albury township, those traveling toward the Walwa and Mt Lawson State Park areas should exercise extreme caution. Heavy rain in these regions may trigger debris flow and falling trees on rural roads. Motorists are urged to avoid driving through floodwaters and to stay updated via local emergency broadcasts.

Furthermore, the public exhibition of a draft amendment to the Albury Local Environmental Plan (LEP) for 773 Mate Street, North Albury, remains active. The proposal seeks to include "office premises" as a permitted use for the site. Submissions regarding this amendment will be accepted until Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Health Advisory: Clinical Vigilance for Multi-Resistant Organisms

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) has issued a community health update regarding an increased prevalence of Multi-Resistant Organisms (MROs) within the regional hospital system. These bacteria are resistant to multiple antibiotics, posing a challenge for standard infection control. Visitors to Albury Hospital and associated clinics are reminded to strictly adhere to hand hygiene protocols and follow all on-site clinical instructions to protect vulnerable patients.
