Community Notice: Current and Planned Infrastructure Works

AlburyCity continues to progress several major infrastructure projects across the region to improve local services and safety. As of Wednesday, 11 February 2026, the following works are active and may result in localized traffic changes:

  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Contractors are currently active between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Demolition and shotcrete works are underway to improve the drainage network. Residents should expect minor noise and temporary access restrictions in the immediate area.
  • Thurgoona Link Road (Stage 5): Significant works are ongoing at the Kerr Road intersection, including the installation of new sewer infrastructure. This project is vital for the growth of the Thurgoona-Wirlinga area and is scheduled for completion in March 2026.
  • Albury Airport Upgrades: Construction is continuing on the Taxiway Alpha extension. This project aims to reduce landing and take-off delays. While stage one night works are complete, daytime construction activities remain on schedule.
  • Australia Park Improvements: Works on the new retaining wall and vehicle crossing for the Australia Park carpark and levee are continuing. This $4 million project will improve car parking and access to the Oddies Creek Park Play Space upon completion later this year.

Public Health Advisory: Albury Wodonga Health Updates

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) has issued important advisories regarding regional health safety. Residents are encouraged to remain informed on the following active notices:

  • Infection Control Alert: Clinical teams have noted an increased prevalence of multi-resistant organisms (MROs) within regional health facilities. These bacteria are resistant to common antibiotics. Visitors and patients are reminded to maintain strict hand hygiene and follow all staff instructions when entering clinical wards.
  • Bushfire Support Services: Following the activation of a Code Brown (External Emergency) earlier this month due to bushfire activity in the Upper Murray, local health services have united to provide coordinated mental health and wellbeing support. Residents in the Walwa and Towong Shire areas can access specialized support clinics as recovery efforts continue.
  • Measles Awareness: NSW and Victorian health departments have flagged an increase in travel-related measles cases. Residents who have recently returned from international travel and experience fever or a blotchy rash should contact their GP for a telehealth consultation prior to visiting in person.

Planning Proposals and Open Tenders

Members of the public are invited to review and provide feedback on current planning matters affecting the Albury local government area:

  • 773 Mate Street, North Albury: A planning proposal is currently on exhibition to amend the Albury Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2010. The proposal seeks to allow 'office premises' as an additional permitted use at this site. Submissions are being accepted until Thursday, 19 February 2026.
  • Airport Supply Tender: AlburyCity is currently seeking 'Requests for Information' for the supply of goods and advertising services at the Albury Airport. Interested parties must submit their documentation by midday on Friday, 13 February 2026.
