Public Notice: Albury City Council Meeting and February Infrastructure Update

Council Meeting and Public Forum
AlburyCity Council will hold an Ordinary Council Meeting on Monday, 16 February 2026. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers, located on the Ground Floor at 553 Kiewa Street, Albury. Members of the community are welcome to attend the gallery in person or view the proceedings via the official online live stream. A Public Forum will precede the meeting, providing an opportunity for residents to address the Council regarding items of business on the evening's agenda. Residents wishing to present must ensure their applications are submitted by 12:00 pm today.
Infrastructure and Road Works
Several major infrastructure projects remain active across the city this week. Residents are advised of the following updates and potential traffic impacts:
- Burrows Road: Reconstruction works are continuing following the commencement of watermain installation in late January. Motorists should expect localized delays.
- Lavington Drainage: Contractors are currently progressing with demolition and drainage reconstruction between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Shotcrete works are also underway near the railway line.
- Australia Park: Construction of the new retaining wall and vehicle crossing for the carpark and levee project is ongoing.
- Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 construction of the Kerr Road sewer is progressing well and remains on track for completion in March.
- Albury Airport: Work continues on the Taxiway Alpha extension. While Stage 1 night works are complete, ongoing construction activity remains within the airport precinct.
Community and Planning Notices
Interim CEO Appointment: Council has formally confirmed the appointment of Steve McGrath as the interim Chief Executive Officer of AlburyCity. Mr. McGrath assumed the role on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
Planning Proposal: Feedback is still being sought regarding a proposal to amend the Albury Local Environmental Plan 2010 for the property at 773 Mate Street, North Albury. The proposal seeks to allow 'office premises' as an additional permitted use. Documents are available for inspection at the Kiewa Street Customer Service Centre and the Albury LibraryMuseum until Thursday, 19 February 2026.
Animal Care Centre: To encourage local pet adoptions, the Albury Animal Care Centre is waiving adoption fees for all cats and dogs throughout the month of February. This initiative aims to help local animals find permanent homes, with additional support provided to new owners during the settling-in period.
Upcoming Event Notice
While the SS&A City2City RunWalk is scheduled for Sunday, 22 February, residents should prepare for significant road closures next weekend, including Dean Street and Wodonga Place. Official notices have been posted to allow for early travel planning.
