Official Notice: Road Naming and Community Submissions

AlburyCity is currently seeking community feedback on several new road naming proposals across the local government area. Notice is hereby given, as required by Section 162 of the Roads Act 1993, of the intent to name several new public roads. Specifically, the council is seeking input regarding "Dornan Lane," located between Thurgoona Street and Wilcox Street, as well as "Asher Lane," which commences at Creek Street and extends in an eastern direction. A proposal is also active for "Discovery Road." Submissions regarding these naming proposals will be received until the close of business on Tuesday, 10 February 2026. Planning Proposal: 773 Mate Street, North Albury

Notice is provided regarding a draft amendment to the Albury Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2010. The proposal seeks to introduce 773 Mate Street, North Albury (Lot 9, DP 15548) into Schedule 1 of the LEP as an "Additional Permitted Use" for the purpose of office premises. In conjunction with this proposal, Development Application No. 10.2023.40499.1 has been submitted for the construction of a two-storey commercial office building, including a storage shed, carparking, and landscaping. Relevant documentation is available for public inspection at the AlburyCity Customer Service Centre on Kiewa Street, the Albury LibraryMuseum, and the Lavington Library. The public exhibition and submission period for this proposal remains open until Thursday, 19 February 2026.

Major Infrastructure and Construction Updates

Residents are advised of the following active works occurring throughout the city this week:

  • Thurgoona Link Road (Stage 5): Construction of the Kerr Road Sewer is ongoing and is scheduled for completion by the end of February 2026. Following the completion of the sewer works, construction on the Water Trunk Main is planned to commence.
  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Demolition works are currently active between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Residents should expect minor traffic disruptions and localized noise in this vicinity.
  • Albury Airport Taxiway Upgrades: Night works for the Taxiway Alpha runway tie-in are scheduled to continue throughout this week. These works are performed at night to minimize disruptions to commercial flight schedules.
  • Burrows Road Reconstruction: Site establishment and service location works are slated to begin this week following recent start-up workshops.

Fire Danger Advisory

While no Total Fire Ban is currently in effect for the Albury-Wodonga region today, Wednesday, 4 February 2026, the Fire Danger Rating for the North East district is currently listed as High. Residents are reminded that fire restrictions remain in force across the regional fire districts until May 2026. Please ensure all properties are cleared of excess fuel and adhere to local municipal fire safety guidelines.

Waste and Recycling Services

AlburyCity reminds residents that organics (green-lidded bins) are collected weekly on your designated service day. General waste and recycling continue on an alternating fortnightly schedule. To ensure collection, please place bins at the kerbside by 6:00 AM with at least one meter of clearance from other objects and a maximum weight of 80kg per bin.
