Infrastructure and Traffic Management

Several major infrastructure projects are impacting traffic flow across the Albury and Lavington regions. AlburyCity and Transport for NSW have confirmed that the following works are active as of Sunday, 22 March 2026. Residents are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays:

  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Significant works continue between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Localized diversions remain in place near the railway line as crews progress with structural retaining wall and shotcrete applications.
  • Burrows Road Watermain: Reconstruction efforts are a priority in South Albury. Motorists should anticipate temporary lane narrowing as the project moves into the road pavement construction phase following the successful installation of the new watermain.
  • Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 of the growth corridor project is currently active. Contractors are focused on sewer and water trunk main installations near Kerr Road. Local residents should allow for minor delays in the immediate vicinity during work hours.
  • Hume Highway Upgrades: The $25 million regional safety project at Table Top continues to affect travel times. Northbound commuters should expect single-lane closures and reduced speed limits. Please allow an additional ten minutes of travel time during peak periods.

Hospital Campus Access and Parking Changes

In coordination with Albury Wodonga Health, the public is reminded of significant changes at the Albury Hospital Campus necessitated by the ongoing Regional Hospital Project. To accommodate the expanding construction footprint, the following measures are currently in effect:

  • Public parking has been relocated to the East Street verge to maintain capacity while construction fencing occupies former parking zones.
  • Pedestrian access to the main hospital entrance is now restricted to a newly established designated footpath for safety.
  • On-site traffic controllers are stationed at carpark entries to prioritize ambulance and emergency vehicle movements. Visitors are asked to follow all directional signage.

Community Engagement and Public Services

Residents are encouraged to participate in current city initiatives and take note of the following community service announcements active this Sunday:

  • Eight Mile Creek Flood Study: AlburyCity is seeking community feedback on the draft Eight Mile Creek Flood Study Review. Feedback will help shape future flood mitigation strategies for the region. Submissions are open via the official community engagement portal until Thursday, 2 April 2026.
  • Animal Rehoming Initiative: The Albury Animal Care Centre is currently waiving adoption fees for all cats and dogs throughout March and April 2026. This program aims to find homes for local animals and includes settlement support for new owners.
  • Public Service Notice: A final reminder that applications for the Assistant Director vacancy with the Australian Energy Regulator close today, Sunday, 22 March 2026.

Future Planning and Maintenance Focus

Following a recent community survey, AlburyCity is currently formulating the upcoming annual budget. The Mayor’s Office has indicated that the results of the recent 'micromix' survey have highlighted a community priority for the maintenance of footpaths, road networks, parks, and sporting fields. This feedback will be integrated into budget discussions to ensure the continued integrity of Albury’s public spaces and gardens as the city enters the Easter season.
