Official City Roundup: Good Friday Service Adjustments and Public Notices

Public Holiday Service Impacts: Friday, 10 April 2026
As today is the Good Friday public holiday, AlburyCity has announced several adjustments to municipal services. All administrative offices, libraries, and the Albury LibraryMuseum are closed today. Essential services remain operational, though residents should note that residential waste collection scheduled for today has been deferred. Kerbside bins will instead be collected on Saturday, 11 April. The Albury Waste Management Centre is also closed for the holiday.
Public Health Advisory: Mosquito-Borne Disease Prevention
NSW Health and AlburyCity have issued a regional health advisory active through 19 April 2026. Due to the autumn school holiday period and increased outdoor activities, residents and visitors are urged to take proactive measures against mosquito-borne illnesses, including Japanese encephalitis. Health officials recommend:
- Wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing that covers the arms and legs.
- Applying effective insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
- Removing stagnant water around residential properties to limit breeding sites.
Infrastructure and Traffic Management
While active construction is paused for the public holiday, several work zones remain in a "made-safe" state with ongoing traffic diversions. Motorists are advised to exercise caution at the following sites:
- Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Traffic diversions remain in place between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Drivers are encouraged to use Wagga Road as an alternative route.
- South Albury Watermain: Temporary lane narrowing is in effect on Burrows Road between Logan Road and Union Road.
- Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 utility installations continue near the Kerr Road intersection. Please follow all localized signage.
- Hume Highway (Table Top): Reduced speed limits of 80km/h are active north of the Albury CBD due to ongoing safety upgrades.
Albury Hospital Access and Parking
Albury Wodonga Health reminds the public that significant parking changes are in effect at the Albury Campus due to the Regional Hospital Project. Public parking has been relocated to the East Street verge. Pedestrian access to the main entrance is via a newly designated footpath, and drop-off zones remain available for those with limited mobility.
Community Notice: Aurora in Bloom
Residents are reminded that the "Aurora in Bloom" light installation at the Albury Botanic Gardens is entering its final days. The event will remain open tonight and conclude on Saturday, 11 April. High pedestrian activity is expected near the gardens and the Riverina Highway access points this evening.
