Official Notice: Weekend Community Events and Regional Infrastructure Updates

Infrastructure and Roadwork Progress Reports
AlburyCity is currently managing a significant schedule of infrastructure upgrades designed to enhance the safety and reliability of our local network. For Saturday, 21 March 2026, the following project activities are active. Residents are advised to plan their travel accordingly to avoid potential delays in these zones:
- Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Significant progress is being made on the drainage systems between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Crews are currently focused on retaining wall construction. Motorists are reminded that localized diversions remain in effect to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
- Burrows Road Redevelopment: Following the successful installation of the new watermain, work has transitioned to road pavement construction between Logan Road and Union Road. High-activity machinery will be present in this South Albury corridor throughout the weekend.
- Thurgoona Link Road (Stage 5): Construction has moved into the sewer and water trunk main phase at the Kerr Road intersection. This stage follows the completion of critical underboring activities and is a vital step in the expansion of the Thurgoona-Wirlinga growth corridor.
- Airport Operations: Asphalt laying is ongoing at Albury Airport for the Taxiway Alpha extension. These works are part of the broader runway overlay and aeromedical support apron upgrades, with completion targeted before the upcoming Easter holiday period.
Public Space and Facility Notifications
Council continues to invest in community recreation and public safety through several ongoing site developments. Residents using public parks this Saturday should be aware of the following:
Australia Park Carpark and Levee Works: Construction of the new earthen levee and carpark facility is continuing. Foundation work for the future pedestrian bridge is in progress, involving driven piles and reinforcement installation. For your safety, please respect all exclusion zones and follow the signposted pedestrian detours.
Sewer Infrastructure Renewals: Essential maintenance and relining of pipelines are underway at Sewer Pump Station 37 on Jelbart Road and Pump Station 22. While service interruptions are not expected, residents may notice increased technician presence and minor traffic control near these sites.
Community Event Alert: Aurora – In Bloom
A major new community experience, Aurora – In Bloom, officially launched its residency this weekend. Hosted at the AlburyCity administrative precinct at 553 Kiewa Street, this installation features a unique blend of light and art. Visitors to the CBD on Saturday evening are encouraged to utilize off-street parking facilities in the vicinity of the LibraryMuseum to accommodate the expected increase in pedestrian traffic. This installation will remain open to the public daily through mid-April.
Current Tenders and Expressions of Interest
AlburyCity is currently seeking community and professional input for several upcoming projects. Interested parties should note the following closing dates:
- AMP Lane Lightbox Gallery: Expressions of Interest for artists wishing to contribute to the open-air gallery close on Monday, 23 March 2026.
- Sarvaas Park Sports Lighting: Tenders for the installation of advanced sports field lighting are open until 31 March 2026.
