Local Roadworks and Traffic Conditions

Albury commuters should prepare for a mix of local infrastructure upgrades and regional rail disruptions this Wednesday, February 11, 2026. While major highways remain largely clear, secondary routes and evening rail services are where the most significant impacts will be felt today.

In North Albury and Lavington, significant drainage reconstruction remains a focal point for traffic management. Work is currently concentrated between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Motorists can expect periodic lane closures and increased heavy vehicle movements as contractors progress with demolition and shotcrete works. This project also extends toward the railway line near Nowra Street, which may cause minor rubbernecking delays during peak periods for those moving between the suburbs and the city center.

Central Albury commuters should continue to exercise caution on Burrows Road. Reconstruction efforts that began in late January are currently in a critical phase with the installation of a new watermain. Partial closures may be in effect, so utilizing alternative routes is recommended to avoid delays. Meanwhile, in Thurgoona, the Stage 5 development of the Link Road continues alongside Kerr Road sewer construction. While much of the work is off the main thoroughfares, commuters near Elizabeth Mitchell Drive should stay alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the site.

Public Transport Updates

Regional travelers must account for ongoing disruptions to V/Line services. As part of the Big Switch network changes that introduced over 1,000 extra services across the state, new timetables have been in effect since early February. However, for tonight, Wednesday, February 11, evening services on the Seymour Line—the primary regional link for Albury—will be replaced by coaches. This is the final night of the current scheduled coach replacement period, with rail services expected to return to the regular timetable tomorrow morning.

NSW TrainLink passengers are also advised to check their specific trip details before heading to the station. While the main Southern line remains operational, significant trackwork in other regions of the network has led to coach replacements for various regional services, which may impact those looking for connecting travel to the north-west.

Essential Tips for Today's Commute

  • Lavington: Avoid the Boronia and Tamarind Street corridor if possible; use Wagga Road as the primary alternative.
  • Thurgoona: Be mindful of the Kerr Road sewer works and potential speed reductions near the construction zones.
  • V/Line Users: Plan for extra travel time tonight as coaches replace trains; check the V/Line app for the exact departure times of the replacement buses.
  • Heat Awareness: With high temperatures continuing to affect the North East, ensure your vehicle's cooling system is functioning and carry water for longer trips.
