Official City Roundup: Wednesday, 25 March 2026

Stay informed with the latest official notices, public health updates, and infrastructure alerts from Albury City Council and regional authorities. As we move into the final week of March, several major projects and community programs remain active across the region.

Community Events and Public Spaces

  • Aurora in Bloom at Botanic Gardens: Residents and visitors are reminded that the Aurora in Bloom light installation is currently active at the Albury Botanic Gardens. Part of the Luna Light Journeys series, this immersive event runs nightly until Saturday, 11 April. Low-sensory sessions are available during the first timeslot each evening for those with specific accessibility needs.
  • Australia Park Levee and Carpark Works: Construction continues on the new earthen levee and carpark facility at Australia Park. Foundation work for the future pedestrian bridge is ongoing, involving the installation of reinforcement. Pedestrians are advised to follow all signposted detours and remain clear of exclusion zones.

Infrastructure and Traffic Notifications

Motorists should account for potential delays and localized diversions at the following sites:

  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Critical drainage upgrades are progressing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Work is currently focused on retaining wall construction. Please follow all traffic control directions in the Lavington area.
  • Burrows Road Redevelopment: Following the completion of watermain installations, crews have transitioned to road pavement construction between Logan Road and Union Road in South Albury. High-activity machinery will be operating throughout the day.
  • Thurgoona Link Road (Stage 5): Construction of the sewer and water trunk mains is active at the Kerr Road intersection. This project is a key component of the ongoing expansion within the Thurgoona-Wirlinga growth corridor.
  • Albury Airport Operations: Asphalt laying for the Taxiway Alpha extension is in its final phases. These works, which support aeromedical emergency services and general runway upgrades, are scheduled for completion prior to the Easter holiday period.

Public Consultation and Services

  • Flood Study Feedback: Submissions remain open for the draft Eight Mile Creek Flood Study Review. Community members are encouraged to review the documents and provide feedback by 5:00 PM on Thursday, 2 April 2026.
  • Animal Adoption Program: The Albury Animal Care Centre is currently waiving adoption fees for cats and dogs until 30 April. This initiative aims to find permanent homes for local animals, with additional support provided to help new pets settle in.
  • Public Health Monitoring: Albury Wodonga Health continues to monitor regional wellness. Residents are encouraged to maintain seasonal health practices and stay updated on standing advisories, including the ongoing public health monitoring for arboviruses and seasonal wellness initiatives.
