Eight Mile Creek Flood Study Review

AlburyCity is currently seeking community feedback on the draft Eight Mile Creek Flood Study Review. Residents are encouraged to review the proposed findings and provide submissions to help shape future flood mitigation strategies. Submissions are open until 5:00 PM on Thursday, 2 April 2026. Feedback can be submitted via the official community engagement portal or in writing to the council chambers at 553 Kiewa Street.

Roadworks and Traffic Management Updates

Several major infrastructure projects are impacting traffic flow across the Albury and Lavington regions this week. Residents and commuters should plan for the following disruptions:

  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Significant works are continuing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Localized diversions are in place near the railway line as crews progress with structural shotcrete applications.
  • Burrows Road Watermain: Reconstruction efforts remain a priority in South Albury. Motorists should expect temporary lane narrowing and are advised to maintain high awareness of site workers in the residential zone.
  • Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 of the growth corridor project is active. Contractors are currently focused on sewer and water trunk main installations near Kerr Road, which may cause minor delays for local residents.
  • Hume Highway Upgrades: Ongoing infrastructure work at Table Top continues to result in reduced speed limits and single-lane closures. Commuters heading north should allow for an additional five to ten minutes of travel time during peak morning and afternoon periods.

Hospital Campus Access and Parking Changes

In coordination with Albury Wodonga Health, the public is reminded of significant changes at the Albury Campus due to the ongoing Regional Hospital Project. Construction fencing has been relocated to accommodate the new building footprint, and public parking has been shifted to the full length of the East Street verge to maintain space capacity. Pedestrian access to the main entrance is now via a newly established designated footpath. Traffic controllers are stationed at the carpark entry to prioritize ambulance and emergency vehicle movements.

Community and Public Service Announcements

  • Animal Adoption Initiative: The Albury Animal Care Centre is waiving adoption fees for all cats and dogs throughout the month of March and April 2026. This program aims to rehome local animals and includes settlement support for new owners.
