Official Health Advisories

NSW Health has issued a regional advisory active for Wednesday, 18 March 2026, regarding the expansion of the Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccine program. Residents in high-risk regional areas, including the Albury-Wodonga corridor, now have expanded free access to the JE vaccine. This initiative aims to protect those frequently exposed to mosquito-heavy environments. Additionally, health officials remind the community that this week (16-22 March) marks National Advance Care Planning Week. Residents are encouraged to document their future healthcare preferences under the theme 'Your Story, Your Choice.'

Roadworks and Traffic Disruptions

Several major infrastructure projects are impacting local traffic flow today. Commuters should take note of the following active sites:

  • Hume Highway (Table Top): Single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h are in effect between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm for essential upgrades. Expect delays of approximately five minutes.
  • Lavington Drainage Works: Reconstruction continues between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Localized diversions are in place near the railway line as crews perform demolition and shotcrete application.
  • South Albury: Burrows Road remains under reconstruction for watermain installations. Motorists can expect temporary lane narrowing and are advised to follow all on-site signage.
  • Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 construction is progressing with ongoing water trunk main installations on Kerr Road.

Public Tenders and Facilities

AlburyCity has issued a public tender notice (ALBURY-1155981) for the installation of new sports field lighting at Sarvaas Park. Contractors and interested parties are reminded that submissions for this project close at the end of the month. Meanwhile, at Albury Airport, construction on the Taxiway Alpha extension continues during daylight hours. While flight schedules remain unaffected, travelers should allow extra time for airport parking and drop-off due to construction vehicle movements near the terminal.

Regional Transport Update

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has confirmed that the Sydney to Perth freight rail corridor, which passes through the region, has been fully restored as of this morning following recent flood repairs. Freight services have resumed normal operations, easing regional logistics pressures.
