Public Notice: Albury Twilight Markets and City Infrastructure Updates
Community Event: Twilight Markets at QEII Square
AlburyCity is pleased to announce the commencement of the annual Twilight Market series today, Thursday, 12 March 2026. The event will transform QEII Square into a vibrant community hub from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Residents and visitors are invited to explore a diverse range of market stalls featuring handmade goods, unique local gifts, and a selection of street food. The evening will also include family-friendly entertainment and live music as the city transitions from day to night. Please note that increased pedestrian activity is expected in the CBD during these hours.
Infrastructure and Traffic Management Notice
Motorists are advised of several active roadworks and infrastructure projects across the region that may impact travel times on Thursday, 12 March:
- Hume Highway (Table Top): Infrastructure upgrades are currently in a high-activity phase. Drivers should expect single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Delays of approximately five to ten minutes are anticipated.
- Lavington Drainage Project: Major drainage reconstruction is progressing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Heavy machinery movements and localized diversions are in place near the railway line.
- South Albury Watermain Works: The reconstruction of Burrows Road remains a priority, with active watermain installations causing temporary lane narrowing. Awareness of site workers is requested in this residential zone.
- Thurgoona Link Road Stage 5: Construction teams are focused on Kerr Road for sewer and water trunk main installations as part of the ongoing growth corridor development.
NSW Seniors Festival Continued
The 2026 NSW Seniors Festival continues across Albury, with the official program running through Sunday, 15 March. Today’s activities focus on social inclusion and digital literacy workshops at the Albury LibraryMuseum and various community centers. Residents are encouraged to participate in these free programs designed to celebrate the contributions of older members of our community.
Public Tenders and Expressions of Interest
AlburyCity currently invites suitably qualified individuals and businesses to respond to the following opportunities:
- Sarvaas Park Sports Field Lighting: Tenders for the supply and installation of upgraded sports lighting are open until 31 March 2026.
- AMP Laneway Arts Initiatives: Expressions of Interest are being sought for both the 'Lightbox Open-Air Gallery' (closing 23 March) and the 'Laughs in the Lane' performance series (closing 20 March).
- Flood Study Review: Community feedback remains open for the draft Eight Mile Creek Flood Study Review, which will guide future land-use planning for Thurgoona and Wirlinga.
Public Health Advisory
With the current seasonal conditions, AlburyCity Public Health officials remind residents to remain vigilant against mosquito-borne illnesses. Residents are encouraged to 'drain and cover' by removing standing water around the home and using appropriate repellent during outdoor activities, particularly near the Murray River precinct.
