Public Notice: Albury Community Updates and Health Advisories

Community Event: NSW Seniors Festival Finale
Today, Sunday, 15 March 2026, marks the conclusion of the NSW Seniors Festival in Albury. Residents are reminded that the vibrant program of activities and events, held under the theme 'Live Life in Colour,' officially wraps up this evening. AlburyCity thanks all participants and organizers who contributed to making this year's festival a success in celebrating our senior community members.
Infrastructure and Roadwork Advisories
Motorists and residents are advised of several high-activity infrastructure projects currently impacting traffic flow across the region. While some works may be paused for the Sunday schedule, the following sites remain active work zones with changed traffic conditions:
- Hume Highway (Table Top): Significant upgrades continue at Table Top. Motorists should expect reduced speed limits and single-lane closures during active hours. Travelers heading north toward Sydney are advised to allow for minor delays of approximately five minutes.
- Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Major works are progressing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Current activities include demolition and shotcrete applications. Residents are urged to follow localized diversions near the railway line.
- Burrows Road: Reconstruction and watermain installations continue in South Albury. Temporary lane narrowing is in place, and drivers are encouraged to maintain awareness of site workers.
- Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 of the Link Road project is active, focusing on sewer and water trunk main installations along Kerr Road. Frequent truck movements are expected near the intersection.
- Albury Airport: Daytime construction continues on the Taxiway Alpha extension. While flight schedules remain unaffected, access to terminal parking and drop-off zones may be slightly slower due to construction traffic.
Public Health and Regional Safety
NSW Health and Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) have issued the following advisories for March 2026:
- Winter Respiratory Preparedness: The 2026 Winter Respiratory Vaccination Toolkit was officially released on 11 March. Local health providers are now encouraging residents to schedule their seasonal vaccinations in preparation for the cooler months.
- Mosquito Monitoring: Under the NSW Arbovirus Surveillance and Mosquito Monitoring program, residents are reminded to remain vigilant. With ongoing monitoring active for the 2025-2026 season, the community should use personal protection and eliminate stagnant water around homes to reduce the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.
- Health Service Update: AMA Victoria has recently issued a public statement regarding medical leadership and staff wellbeing at Albury Wodonga Health. Residents are assured that clinical services continue, though administrative reviews are ongoing.
Upcoming Public Holiday Notice
The community is reminded that a half-day local public holiday has been confirmed for the Albury Local Government Area on Friday, 20 March 2026. This holiday will commence at midday to mark the Albury Gold Cup. Businesses and event organizers are encouraged to finalize their planning for the upcoming tradition.
