Infrastructure and Roadworks Schedule

Albury City Council is advising residents of several active infrastructure projects continuing throughout the city on Monday, 16 March 2026. These works are essential for the ongoing maintenance of city services and the expansion of the Thurgoona-Wirlinga growth corridor.

  • Thurgoona Link Road (Stage 5): Construction activity is concentrated near Kerr Road. Following the successful completion of underboring, crews are scheduled to begin road crossing works and a cut-in to the existing sewer main this week. Motorists should be prepared for heavy machinery movements and traffic controllers in the area.
  • Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Major drainage works are progressing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. The current phase includes shotcrete applications and structural reinforcements for the section between Nowra Street and the railway line. Residents should expect localized diversions and temporary disruptions to neighborhood traffic flow.
  • Burrows Road: Reconstruction efforts are entering a new phase. With the finalization of the new watermain installation, road pavement construction is set to commence. Drivers may notice temporary lane narrowing and are urged to maintain awareness of site workers.
  • Australia Park: Concrete works for the retaining wall and construction of the earthen levee are continuing. Foundation work for the new pedestrian bridge is also underway following the installation of driven piles.

Traffic and Transport Alerts

Commuters and regional travelers should account for minor delays on key routes due to high-activity infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.

  • Hume Highway (Table Top): Transport for NSW is continuing the Table Top upgrade project. Motorists traveling on Monday can expect single lane closures and a reduced speed limit in the work zone between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Delays of approximately five minutes are anticipated during peak morning and afternoon periods.
  • Albury Airport: Daytime construction continues on the Taxiway Alpha extension. While all night works have been completed, travelers are advised to allow extra time for parking and terminal access due to the presence of construction personnel and equipment on the airfield.

Health and Facility Notices

Albury Wodonga Health has issued updated safety and access protocols for the Albury hospital campus to accommodate site establishment for the new Key Health Worker Accommodation project.

  • Pedestrian Safety: Active construction zones are now established near the East Street and Borella Road perimeters. Pedestrians must use the designated walkways along the East Street verge and follow all directional signage. Walking along the roadway is strictly prohibited for safety reasons.
  • Parking Changes: Several permanent parking areas are being established to boost car park capacity on the campus. During the construction phase, access to the middle and lower verges may be restricted. Visitors are encouraged to pay close attention to new traffic management measures.

Planning and Development

Recent development applications have been lodged for residential projects in the Glenroy and Thurgoona areas, including proposed new dwellings at Logan Road and Darrow Street. Residents can review these applications and provide feedback through the Council’s online planning portal or at the Customer Service Centre on Kiewa Street.
