Community Notice: NSW Seniors Festival 2026

As the NSW Seniors Festival continues under the theme 'Live Life in Colour,' Albury City Council invites residents to participate in the 'Special Grandparents Storytime' beginning this Monday, 9 March 2026. This community event, which runs through Wednesday, 11 March, provides a space for seniors to connect with younger generations through the Albury LibraryMuseum and Lavington Library services. The broader festival program, running from 2 to 15 March, aims to celebrate residents aged 60 and over, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 50, with various free activities designed to foster social connection and active living across the region.

Public Service Announcement: Victorian Labour Day Holiday

Residents are reminded that Monday, 9 March 2026, is a public holiday in Victoria. While Albury operates under normal New South Wales business hours, those commuting across the border to Wodonga or traveling within Victoria should expect changes to some services. Cross-border retail, banking, and government offices in Wodonga may have altered operating hours or remain closed for the day. V/Line rail services on the Albury line are scheduled to operate on a standard timetable following recent maintenance works, but travelers are encouraged to verify departure times via official apps before heading to the platform to avoid any minor residual delays.

Infrastructure and Road Maintenance Updates

Transport for NSW and Albury City Council have confirmed several active roadwork zones for Monday, 9 March. Drivers should allow for extra travel time and exercise caution in the following areas:

  • Hume Highway (Table Top): Infrastructure upgrades continue with single lane closures and a reduced speed limit in effect from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Delays of approximately five to ten minutes are expected during peak periods.
  • Lavington Drainage Project: Major reconstruction work is ongoing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. Localized diversions remain in place to facilitate demolition and shotcrete application near the railway line.
  • South Albury: Burrows Road remains under reconstruction for new watermain installation. Temporary lane narrowing is in effect; motorists are advised to follow site signage and watch for construction personnel.
  • Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 works are progressing at Kerr Road with sewer and water trunk main installations. Heavy machinery movement will be common in the area throughout the morning and afternoon.

Albury Airport Construction Notice

Passengers and visitors are advised that flight schedules are not currently impacted by the works, but they should remain aware of increased work vehicle movements within the airport precinct.
