City Notices: Road Infrastructure Updates and Seniors Festival Highlights

NSW Seniors Festival: Live Life in Colour
The 2026 NSW Seniors Festival continues across Albury today, Tuesday, 10 March. This year's theme, "Live Life in Colour," encourages local seniors to celebrate their contribution to the community through a diverse program of social, active, and cultural activities. Residents are reminded that a $5 Seniors Festival Pass is currently available, providing unlimited access to two weeks of online exercise and wellness programs. Additionally, the Murray Conservatorium is conducting a series of live music performances within local aged care facilities throughout the day to ensure all residents can participate in the festivities.
Infrastructure and Road Reconstruction Projects
AlburyCity’s essential infrastructure program remains in a high-activity phase, with several key projects impacting traffic flow today. Commuters and residents should plan for minor delays in the following areas:
- Lavington Drainage Reconstruction: Major works are progressing between Boronia Street and Tamarind Street. The section between Nowra Street and the railway line is currently undergoing demolition and shotcrete application. Localized diversions are in place, and heavy machinery movements are expected throughout the day.
- Burrows Road Upgrades: Reconstruction efforts in South Albury continue as a priority. Current works include the installation of a new watermain, which may result in temporary lane narrowing. Motorists are encouraged to follow all temporary signage and maintain awareness of site workers.
- Thurgoona Link Road: Stage 5 of the project is currently focused on the Kerr Road area. Work includes the installation of sewer and water trunk mains. While much of the activity is off the main carriageway, frequent truck movements at the intersection require extra caution from drivers.
- Albury Airport Taxiway: Daytime construction activity for the Taxiway Alpha extension is ongoing. While flight schedules remain unaffected, passengers should allow extra time for access to terminal parking and drop-off zones due to construction traffic.
Library and Community Services
The Albury LibraryMuseum and Lavington Library have several scheduled sessions for Tuesday, 10 March:
- Low Sensory Time: Lavington Library will host its weekly low sensory hour from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This session provides a quiet, calm environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities.
- Grandparents Storytime: A special intergenerational storytime session is being held today as part of the Seniors Festival. This event invites grandparents and children to share in local storytelling and literacy activities.
- Weekly Lego Club: Young builders are invited to the Albury LibraryMuseum at 3:30 pm for the weekly Lego challenge.
Public Health Advisory: Fight the Bite
With summer conditions persisting into March, AlburyCity is reminding residents to remain vigilant against mosquito-borne diseases. The "Fight the Bite" campaign highlights an increased risk of Ross River and Barmah Forest viruses. Public health officials recommend wearing loose, light-colored clothing, using effective repellent, and ensuring that any stagnant water around residential properties is emptied to prevent mosquito breeding.
Creative Opportunities and Expressions of Interest
Council is currently inviting submissions for two major public art initiatives in the CBD:
- Laughs in the Lane: Artists and performers can submit expressions of interest for the AMP Laneway celebration until 20 March 2026.
- Lightbox Open-Air Gallery: Proposals for the next rotation of the AMP Lane lightbox gallery are being accepted until 23 March 2026.
